Day 12 and we have a fail!!

Oh shit, I've missed a Monday post already and it's only the second week in to the new year. Damn it!
Does it cancel out the fail if I post on Tuesday as an extra?! Who knows!!

Here are some important things we have learned this week...

Hush has reduced some items by up to 70%, run, don't walk!!

THE FOREVER EDIT
Boden has released some new Spring pieces and A2Y9 will get you 20% off!!

(Love J-Law!!) The-Pool have published a fab piece about giving yourself a 'fuck budget' to help minimise how much you care about ridiculous shit that doesn't matter one jot. I am trying hard to implement this in my own life and stop behaviour such as crying because I may or may not have implied that someone's hat looked daft (or some other such bullshit) when it actual fact the person I'm crying about didn't even hear me say it and/or didn't give a fuck what I thought so why am I up at 3am angsting about it...that kind of bollocks! A good read.

There was something else but I'm up against the clock, if Baby sleeps much longer he'll be up 'til all hours and as I have a PLA meeting this evening and am leaving Husband in charge, well, let's just say that wouldn't be fun for anyone involved. Am racing upstairs to wake him...

Enjoy the rest of your day and I shall (endeavour to) see you tomorrow x

Five Friday Favourites!

Happy Friday, friends. Two early starts is MORE than enough for this Mama to get eased back into the school routine again, thank God for the weekend. We have an NCT playdate at a local playbarn tomorrow morning followed by a lazy afternoon at home, then swimming and our first proper roast of the new year on Sunday (we were at Nana's last Sunday so I haven't failed my resolution!!)

Here's 5 Friday Favourites that are currently making me smile and feel all fuzzy on the inside, enjoy!

TV is limited in our house Monday-Friday but on the weekend Mama relaxes the rules a bit and will ALWAYS relax them for a Disney movie! This is currently the boys' film of choice, the wonderful Peter Pan. I often find myself joining them both under a blanket...

To aid in my roast dinner resolution I have invested in this beauty of a roasting tin. Can not WAIT to try it out this weekend!!
(Forgive the massive gap here, no clue why?!)
Am lusting over the grey slippers that M&S posted on their Instagram feed recently...only to announce that they're either a prop so not available in store or sold out. The story changes depending on which day you ask them. Grr...must now find out where they came from!

This is image

The new arrivals at Boden always make me warm and fuzzy and the new catalogue has got me daydreaming of hot days on the beach with friends...come on Spring/Summer, we are ready and waiting!!

Summer brights! Sprinkles and ice cream! Recipe here,:

And since April will soon be upon us, I have started pinning things for Baby's ice-cream themed birthday party! So cute, so sweet, so delicious...just like him!!

And there you have it, 5 little things that are making my January day a little less grey and chilly.
(Oh damn, thinking of being chilly, I forgot to remind Husband to put more water into the boiler, balls!)
Have a great weekend, everyone. Will be back on Monday with some pictures of the boys' new art supplies we've installed in the boot room!

Back to school

What type of wine goes well with Back to School?:

And he's gone. Am blue. Only 26 more goodbyes to get through before the next holiday...

Mixing a new item into your wardrobe

Now, some of you might remember that Husband very sweetly bought me this coat for Christmas...
Double-breasted wool coat

I love it, it fits really well, is great quality and it filled the warm/grown-up/smart coat-hole in my wardrobe perfectly. Thing is, I sometimes think it's a bit tooooo smart for me? I spend my life in jeans and a tshirt (no matter how hard I try not to...!) so my outfit-planning post this morning is some inspiration for how I'm going to utilise this amazing item in my day-to-day choices.

First up, I love this image. She has literally thrown it on over my normal school-run uniform. I'm not convinced on the black socks obvs, but the rest of it is totally plausible.

¤¤¤:

This image is making me realise how badly I a) need to purchase black Chelsea boots and b) lose 4 stone and c) grow my hair out. Am ignoring the cigarette (gak!)

Never mind the fact that Olivia Palermo can do no wrong, am loving the leather leggings and smart shoe combo...out of my comfort zone but new things are always worth investigating...
Olivia Palermo rocks a chic fringed leather ensemble #dailymail:

And I pinned this image because my gut instinct always says 'NO' when I think of navy and black together BUT IT'S A LIE, it looks awesome!! Throw in some classic grey and bam, a winner. Also liked the tapered, smart trousers with heels!!
Grey, navy & black:

Last but not least, because no blog post over here would be complete without the obligatory Breton stripes...LOOK HOW GREAT IT'LL LOOK WITH A STRIPED JUMPER!! Also, really need to grow my hair...

Katarzyna Tusk pairs simple ripped jeans with a casual striped top and a navy overcoat. Top: Mango, Jeans: Zara, Coat: Stefanel.:

So, after all that research it is now clear that, whilst I already own ripped jeans, Breton tops and a grey jumper, I need to look into:
White trainers (I'm thinking classic Stan Smiths??)
Black Chelsea boots
Tapered smart trousers
Smart ballet pumps
Leather leggings

Damn it! Better get started...! Which look do you prefer? Am trying to decide which one I'm going to try today on our final day of Christmas holidays...

Happy New Year!

New Year, new goals. I try to choose one for myself, one for our family, one for health, one related to money etc...
OK, so resolution number 1 was to blog every Monday, Wednesday and Friday...and clearly I have failed this at the first hurdle. Wheeeee, Friday 1st January zoomed past and I didn't even blink. The shame!

Hey ho, onwards and upwards. I have 5 resolutions this year and I am going to work so, so hard to keep them alive and well. They are written out and stuck on the fridge door to encourage and remind me. They are as follows...

OK, resolution 1 is as above. Moving swiftly on...

To cook a roast dinner for my family every Sunday. This is something I didn't do once during 2015 (don't all be appalled, I feed them, obvs, I just don't cook roasts!) Hopefully, cooking big family dinners will protect our Sundays ie: if I know I have to be at home and cook a roast I'm less likely to schedule far too many weekend activities that make us all exhausted and grumpy...? That's my theory anyway, we'll see how we get on?!
To only drink wine on a Friday evening. This is self-explanatory and negates the need for an exercise-based resolution!!

To spend less money!Curse the old house and it's complete and utter reluctance to sell, it is causing us sleepless nights. The list of things we want/need to do once it's sold is getting longer by the day/hour/minute...

To take Baby to more activity classes in the week.Poor little second-born. His elder brother was carted here, there and everywhere...yoga, music, tumble tots, playgroup, dancing, cooking...he didn't even have time to catch his baby breath! Baby, on the other hand, has been to 5 ill-fated Diddidance sessions and is just pootling through life fitting in with Boy's school schedule. This will be rectified this year, especially if he's going to start nursery in the autumn. His baby Japanese skills are suffering greatly!!
So there you have it. 5 aims to work on for the next 12 months. I shall see how I get on, anything more than abject failure is a win in my book! Did you make any resolutions or are you totally against them and all they stand for?
